15 Game Releases We're Still Excited for in 2025

Plenty of games left to see!

As we continue rolling into the 'ber months, it's clear 2025 has already delivered its fair share of bangers. From masterstrokes like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and Split Fiction to the record-breaking Hollow Knight: Silksong. There's been plenty to rave about, but the year's not quite done with us yet. Aren't we lucky?!

We've scanned the upcoming release slate and picked out 15 of our most anticipated titles still to come in 2025.

1. Keeper (October 17th)

From the studio that blessed us with the Psychonauts games, Double Fine is sticking to its signature oddity with Keeper. It’s a visually striking, bizarre-looking adventure featuring possibly the most uncanny partnership in recent years, a four-legged lighthouse, and it's jolly seabird companion.

As a longtime fan of Tim Schaffer and co. I'll admit I'd have signed up for whatever the studio cooked up to be their next game. It's a bonus then that the emotive, puzzle platforming of Keeper is absolutely my cup of tea.

On an island in a long-lost sea, a forgotten lighthouse stands dormant in the shadow of a distant mountain peak. As withering tendrils spread and coalesce, it awakens. Taken with a mysterious sense of purpose and joined by a spirited seabird, it embarks upon a heartening tale of unlikely companionship, an odyssey of mystifying metamorphosis, and an unexpected journey towards the center of the island, into realms beyond understanding.

2. ARC Raiders (October 30th)

ARC Raiders has seen its fair share of changes over the years, with the premium extraction shooter originally starting out as a free-to-play co-op experience. What hasn’t changed, however, is just how good the game looks and the sheer level of excitement I still have for its eventual release at the end of October.

In ARC Raiders, gameplay flows between the surface ruled by lethal machines, and the vibrant underground society of Speranza. Craft, repair, and upgrade your gear in the safety of your own workshop, before venturing topside to scavenge the remnants of a devastated but beautiful world. Play solo or in parties up to three, navigating the constant threat of ARC's machines and the unpredictable choices of fellow survivors.

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

3. Battlefield 6 (October 10th)

Possibly the most excited I’ve been for a Battlefield entry. Like ever. You could make an argument for Battlefield 1, but the point is Battlefield 6 is gearing up to be real bloody good.

After the catastrophic launch of Battlefield 2042, DICE spent years putting one foot in front of the other. To their credit, they did make BF2042 a much better game. But despite all the effort the FPS never quite hit the strides Battlefield is loved for.

All this to say, Battlefield 6 seems to be the absolute course correction DICE needed. Having played over 40 hours of the beta back in August, I'm inclined to think they'll nail it this time. Battlefield is going back to fundamentals in 2025 with core classes, gritty and grounded realism, and none of whatever Fortnite shenanigans Call of Duty has turned into.

The ultimate all-out warfare experience. Fight in high-intensity infantry combat. Rip through the skies in aerial dogfights. Demolish your environment for a strategic advantage. Harness complete control over every action and movement using the Kinesthetic Combat System. In a war of tanks, fighter jets, and massive combat arsenals, the deadliest weapon is your squad. This is Battlefield 6.

4. Painkiller (October 21st)

If teaming up with a few of your mates to rip and tear through hordes of demonic blood bags sounds like your jam, then you'll likely want to check Painkiller out.

It's DOOM-coded without a doubt, but the tarot card ability system, co-op carnage, and choice of four unique characters do enough to give Painkiller its own gory identity. To be fair, even if it were a simple DOOM clone, I'd be well up for it.

Battle through Purgatory in fast-paced co-op action, wielding infernal weapons against relentless demonic hordes. Condemned for your sins, the Voice of the Creator offers you a chance at redemption. Will you seize it or be lost to darkness?

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

5. Demonschool (November 19th)

For all the joy Hollow Knight: Silksong's launch brought to the world, one absolute pants knock-on was the delay of the horror RPG Demonschool. Originally set to drop the day before Silksong, it was pushed back a whole month (and then some!). A wise move from Necrosoft, sure, but I’m itching to start my first semester at Demonschool.

Demonschool is a new-style tactics RPG where motion equals action. Defeat big weirdos in between the human and demon worlds as Faye and her misfit companions, while navigating university life on a mysterious island.

Platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, PS4/PS5, Xbox One/Series X|S

6. Goodnight Universe (November 11th)

Not that I can remember, but I’m pretty sure the most annoying thing about being a baby is having zero autonomy over your own decisions. I probably wanted to eat way more than my parents allowed, and when I cried about it, they had no clue what I was trying to say. Tragic, right? Well, Goodnight Universe makes you just that, a baby. But not your classic run‑of‑the‑mill nappy‑plopper. Oh no! You’re a psychic baby, with powers and stuff.

You're Isaac, a 6-month-old baby, developing mysterious psychic abilities. What you want most is to be loved by your family, but a secretive tech corporation wants you for their own.

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S

7. MARVEL Cosmic Invasion (TBD 2025)

When the retro-inspired beat 'em up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge did the rounds in 2022, it was clear just how well Tribute Games handled our favourite crime-fighting reptiles. And if you’re one of the real ones who played the criminally underrated Flinthook back in the day, you already know how good this dev team is.

Marvel’s Cosmic Invasion feels like a sure thing when you look at Tribute’s rap sheet. But who really knows until the game is in our hands? I’m keen, you’re keen, but I'm calling dibs on Wolverine!

A cosmic battle awaits! Choose between 15 Marvel heroes in this frenetic action beat ‘em up to fight against the deadly Annihilation Wave threatening the galaxy. From New York City to the depths of the Negative Zone, the future of the Marvel Universe will be fought for across the stars!

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PS4/PS5, Xbox Series X|S

8. Possessor(s) (November 11th)

Not too long ago during Steam Next Fest, Jake got hands-on with Possessor(s) and dubbed it the highlight of the event. Safe to say the side-scrolling demon action game left a strong impression on the lad. Possessor(s) also comes from the talented crew at Heart Machine, the devs behind the wonderful Hyper Light Drifter.

The game looks slick, and stylish, with vibes a'plenty! Who’d have thought one demon school adventure would be enough for this list? Nope. We want two.

Possessor(s) is a fast-paced action side scroller with combat inspired by platform fighters, a story told through dangerous characters, set in a deep interconnected world ready for exploration.

Best of the Fest

9. Pokémon Legends: Z-A (October 16th)

I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of Pokémon games. They’re not guilty of anything awful, I just find them a bit monotonous. The kind of game where you press the A button until the credits roll. A bit samey.

That said, Pokémon Legends: Z-A has caught my attention. Combat looks much more engaging, letting you control both your trainer and command your chosen Pokémon to batter the opposition into Poképulp. It already looks miles better than what Nintendo has offered in the past, and I'm genuinely excited for this one.

Step onto the battlefield and command your Pokémon directly—there are no turns! For the first time in the Pokémon RPG series, Trainers and their Pokémon can both move around in real-time battles, and your Pokémon will unleash their moves when you tell them to. Strategically swapping out your Pokémon and accounting for each move’s timing and area of effect will greatly help you in this new style of battle.

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2

10. Little Nightmares 3 / Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition (October 10th)

Little Nightmares III will be the first in the series not developed by Tarsier Studio, who are hard at work cooking up REANIMAL for 2026. Instead, Supermassive Games are taking the reins. They previously worked on the enhanced edition of Little Nightmares II, but this will be their first full swing at the series.

I'm keen to see how co-op fits into the fear factor of Little Nightmares, especially considering how spine-chillingly twisted the horrid denizens of the previous two games were. Playing with a friend usually takes the edge off. Whatever is in store for us in Little Nightmares III, I'm just happy to be heading back into this fantastic series.

In Little Nightmares III, you follow the journey of Low & Alone, as they search for a path that could lead them out of the Nowhere. Trapped within the Spiral, a cluster of disturbing places, the two friends will have to work together to survive in a dangerous world full of delusions and escape the grasp of an even greater threat lurking in the shadows.

11. Witchbrook (Winter 2025)

It’s been a long wait since the initial reveal of Witchbrook back in 2018. Now, with its vague Winter 2025 release window not too far off, I can safely say I’m very ready for some unproblematic wizard school bliss.

Discover magic and mystery in Witchbrook, a spellbinding witch life-sim for up to 4-players! Start your life as the newest resident witch in the bustling seaside city of Mossport. Make friends, find love, and discover a world filled with wonder and charm on the road to graduation and beyond...

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch/Switch 2, Xbox One/Series X|S

12. Cairn (November 5th)

No matter how many mountain climbing games are out there, we Sisyphean gamers feel the innate compulsion to heed the call, striving to reach the summit. Cairn is the next in a tall stack of puzzle climbers to grab our attention. Unlike Jusant’s silent approach, the protagonist loud grunts and grumbles as they clamber up the mountain. And if you fumble, they’ll unleash a proper belly scream to guilt you for being absolutely terrible at this game.

Reach a summit never climbed before in this survival-climber from the creators of Furi and Haven. Climb anywhere and plan your route carefully, managing pitons and resources to survive the unforgiving Mount Kami. Discover what Aava is willing to sacrifice to achieve the ascent of a lifetime.

Platforms: Microsoft Windows, PS5

13. Dispatch (October 22nd)

If you haven’t heard about Dispatch yet, it’s a choices-matter episodic narrative game about a superhero dispatcher, where you’re basically the “guy in the chair.” With weekly episodes starting October 22nd and running until November 12th, Dispatch looks like it’s using the Telltale formula of storytelling. Making me wait for the next episode will be bloody horrid (in a good way?).

What’s got me all happy and hyped for this one is its all-star cast. From big names like Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Laura Bailey (The Last of Us Part II), to internet icons like Jacksepticeye, Alanah Pearce, and MoistCr1TiKaL. It looks, and sounds like it'll be a laugh. Sign me up!

Dispatch is a superhero workplace comedy where choices matter. Manage a dysfunctional team of misfit heroes and strategize who to send to emergencies around the city, all while balancing office politics, personal relationships, and your own quest to become a hero.

Platforms: Microsoft PC, PS5

14. Kirby Air Riders (November 20th)

I missed the original star-shaped boat back in 2003, I blame Final Fantasy Tactics Advance for becoming one of my all-time favourite games that year. But the more I see of Kirby Air Ride’s chaotic races, the bigger my excitement builds to finally have a crack at the speedy pink blob racer. It’s a Switch 2 exclusive, and truth be told, as much as I’m down bad for my new console, I’d really like to play exclusives that get the most out of the Switch 2.

Pick your rider, pick your machine, and mount up for competition! Take on your rivals in frantic arena battles or fast-paced races on the ground and in the air. Use the Boost Charge button to brake and control your turns as your machine automatically fights for top speed. Fill your Boost Charge gauge as you drift around the bend and release it to trigger an explosive dash!

Platform: Nintendo Switch 2

15. Kingmakers (October 8th)

Kingmakers looks absolutely bonkers, and if you haven’t already been blessed by the madness of this time-travelling medieval shooter, then you’re in for a treat.

Riding a V8 pickup truck into battle, and peppering the masses with an AK-47 sure hits a whole lot harder than a bunch of flimsy knights and their silly little swords, huh?

Finally, Kingmakers will answer the age old question of "who'd win in a fight: John Rambo? or 10,000 medieval men?"

Go back in time to a war-torn medieval era with a vast arsenal of modern weapons, change the course of history, and save the future in this epic action/strategy sandbox.

Platform: Microsoft Windows
