Halo: Campaign Evolved is Real and It's Coming in 2026
Wort, wort, wort.
It’s real. The Halo: Combat Evolved remake is actually happening, launching in 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and for the first time ever, PlayStation 5. Incredible stuff.
Halo Studios dropped an extended reveal of Halo: Campaign Evolved, their first game since the rebrand, during the Halo World Championships in Seattle.
The 2026 remake is "a faithful yet modernised remake" of the original, featuring “high-definition visuals, updated cinematics, and refined controls.”
Beyond the stunning visual overhaul, it’s bringing three brand-new prequel missions starring Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson.

I grew up with Halo. It’s one of the most impactful games of my life, and the thought of diving into a brand-new Halo experience in 2026 hits hard.
Technically, it’s not brand-new, but it’s hard to deny how fresh Chief looks blasting through the Covenant in his shiny new Mark V Mjolnir. What a handsome lad.
The feature I’m most looking forward to is co-op at launch. Split-screen is back, 4-player online support is in, and you can bet I’ll be up till sunrise running the full campaign with friends in one sitting. Just like the old days.
"Play it your way: solo, 2-player splitscreen co-op on console, or up to 4-player online co-op on console and PC with full crossplay and cross-progression support."
In the video above, it was great to see the Halo Studios developers laughing as they talked about Halo: Campaign Evolved. That sense of joy and fun is something modern Halo games have been lacking.
I specifically loved when Lead Game Designer Dan Gniady giggled about the addition of even more Skulls. You know, those infamous campaign modifiers known for cranking up the difficulty to cruel, insidious levels? Yeah, Dan wants us to lovingly suffer.
Halo: Campaign Evolved will feature the most gameplay-altering Skulls in any Halo story to date, and I can't wait to suffer through another LASO in 2026. Bring it on, Dan!
There’s a lot to be excited for, and it looks like Halo Studios is cooking up something special for us starved, deprived Halo fans.
FOMO is getting me good as those at the World Championships get to play an early demo of the 2026 remake. Darned lucky buggers.
Take a look at some screenshots from the Silent Cartographer level, or why not check out the full 13 minute gameplay video for yourself.
