Weekend Loadout: What Are You Playing? (June 13-15)
How about a new Game Pass title? or Gears of War on PlayStation 5?
The weekend is officially upon us! We've got a few new Xbox Game Pass titles to get stuck into, along with the first opportunity to play a Gears of War on the PS5.
This is a first for Game Friend - not only is it our inaugural Weekend Loadout, a weekly feature to share what we're playing, but also to check in with what your plans are.

Here's what we're playing this weekend:

It’s going to be a great weekend for veteran Gears fans! PlayStation gamers are getting their first go at the household Xbox shooter, and it’s got me excited. I’d say Historically, I've been a bit of a talent at Gears of War: Reloaded, and with a whole platform of fresh-faced grubs to lancer in half, I think I’m going to have some fun!
I’ll be honest though, I don’t expect I’ll peel myself away from my Switch 2 this weekend. Ever since the console launched last week, I’ve been glued to The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It’s a game I haven’t rolled credits on yet, and despite the 60+ hours I had already, I’ve started again with the Switch 2 version. It’s genuinely been such a lovely experience for me, so plenty more of that is on the cards.
Oh, and since it launched today on Xbox Game Pass, if I have time, I’d like to check out The Alters too.

This week has been one of my favourite weeks of the year, Steam Next Fest!! So most of my gaming time will be spent with fantastic demos for up-and-coming indies, but more on that later - wink.
Other than that, I have been getting my teeth stuck into the dystopian world of Disco Elysium. It has eluded me for some time, and I am in a bit of a backlog-clearing phase at the minute, so that will be continued.
Alongside those, I have my daily driver, Risk of Rain 2, which has sucked up SO MUCH of my time in the past few weeks… I fear it is a genuine Balatro-level addiction… as well as trying out robotic rogue-lite Roboquest on PC Game Pass - as if Risk of Rain wasn’t enough rogue-adjacent gaming for one person.
I don't think it has the staying power of a Risk of Rain or a Balatro for me, but it is a fun one to hop in for a chill, weekend run every now and then.
